Comecei com algumas cartas feitas à mão das minhas ilustrações que tinha feito a partir de algumas fotografias históricas que encontrei enquanto procurava súditos para pintar. Eu os levei para alguns estúdios abertos e as pessoas realmente pareciam gostar deles, então eu fiz mais. Eu realmente gostei da ideia de fazer arte que as pessoas compartilhariam umas com as outras e poderiam ser vendidas por um preço baixo o suficiente que as pessoas que normalmente não comprariam arte podem pagar. As imagens não são deliberadamente muito detalhadas de modo que, mesmo que essas imagens sejam baseadas em pessoas reais, você pode ver seu eu ou seus entes queridos nas figuras.
Ensinei a mim mesmo como imprimir na tela porque adoro camisetas inteligentes e/ou visualmente marcantes. Eu também amo a ideia de pessoas vestindo minha arte e que a imagem ou mensagem se conectaria o suficiente com eles para exibi-la em seu corpo.
Eu imprimi cada camiseta eu mesmo e faço à mão cada cartão e armação manual cada impressão. É importante que haja algo de mim em cada peça que vendo.
I started with a few hand made cards of my illustrations I had done from some historic photographs I stumbled across while looking for subjects to paint. I took them to some open studios and people really seemed to like them, so I made more. I really liked the idea of making art that people would share with each other and could be sold for a low enough price that people who would not ordinarily buy art can afford. The images are deliberately not too detailed so that, even though these images are based on real people, you can see your self or your loved ones in the figures.
I taught my self how to screen print because I love clever and/or visually striking t shirts. I also love the idea of people wearing my art and that the image or message would connect enough with them to display it on their body.
I hand-screen print every t shirt myself and hand-make every card and hand-frame every print. It is important that there is something of myself in every piece I sell.
