¡Hola!

Soy Antonia... el fundador de BumpyCrafts y BumpyYarn.

Acabamos de mudarnos a nuestro país de origen, Reino Unido, y ahora tenemos suerte y estamos emocionados de vivir en Worthing.

Todo comenzó hace 9 años, dejé mi casa en el Reino Unido y me mudé a Alemania con mi esposo y, en ese momento, mis trillizos de 12 años. Aunque estábamos emocionados de comenzar nuestra nueva vida, a lo largo de los años, hemos tenido que enfrentar algunos desafíos sin familiares o amigos que nos apoyen.

Estos desafíos me crearon mucho estrés, pero descubrí que mi pasatiempo anterior de tejer y ganchillo me ayudó a regular mi ansiedad, felicidad y estado de ánimo.

Hay una conexión comprobada entre tejer y hacer ganchillo y estar tranquilo y feliz, además del aspecto social de los pasatiempos del hilo también ayuda a mi salud mental al reunirme con otros entusiastas del hilo o charlar en las redes sociales y compartir mis últimos proyectos.

A medida que hacía más, descubrí que me estaba desorganizando y me di cuenta de que necesitaba una bolsa de proyecto que no solo almacenara mi proyecto, sino que también organizara todos mis extras ... cinta métrica, patrón, tijeras, nociones, etc. Sentí que si mi proyecto se alojaba correctamente, entonces tendría una mente más organizada.

Pero a pesar de buscar por todas partes, no pude encontrar esa bolsa de proyecto perfecta ... así que creé el mío propio. Entonces pensé que tal vez otras personas también querrían uno y fue entonces cuando nació BumpyCrafts.

¡Trabajo con mi compañero Snowy, nuestro perro Westiepoo! Ella siempre está conmigo cuando estoy elaborando, haciéndome compañía. Normalmente, ella se acostará junto a mis pies durmiendo, pero en ocasiones me golpeará la pierna con la nariz, así que sé que quiere algo, de ahí su apodo Bumpy ... y el nombre de la empresa!

Me encanta comenzar un nuevo proyecto y me aseguro de que cada uno en el que estoy trabajando tenga una bolsa específica, para que pueda organizarlo y organizarme a mí mismo, (además de que me impide arrodillarme sobre tijeras, ¡esto es algo muy real!) Sé que muchos de ustedes sienten lo mismo y es por eso que creo muchos estilos y tamaños diferentes.

Decidí comenzar BumpyYarn cuando compré mi primer hilo teñido a mano. ¡Los colores, la singularidad y la suavidad del hilo, me engancharon! El hilo teñido a mano de lujo es un verdadero placer. Es una inversión maravillosa para comprar hilo de calidad. Cuando regalo algo que he hecho, sé que el destinatario sentirá la suavidad y la calidad del hilo y que durará.

El uso de hilos naturales de buena calidad y de origen local que son una fuente renovable y el uso de algodón para las bolsas de mi proyecto, que es biodegradable, ayuda al medio ambiente. Esto es importante para mí. ¡Lo que hagamos hoy, dando pequeños pasos, marcará una diferencia positiva en la protección de nuestro medio ambiente para nuestros hijos y el futuro del planeta!

Me gusta teñir BumpyYarns con un tema en mente, inspirándome en el mundo que me rodea, o en un recuerdo o en una película o programa de televisión favorito. A veces puede ser un nombre que desencadena una forma de color única. Estudié arte y diseño de moda en la universidad, y sé que mi amor por el arte juega un papel importante en las elecciones de color que hago. La alegría que me trae crear los hilos, espero que se refleje en el producto terminado. BumpyYarn no se produce en masa, se crea con amor a pequeña escala.

He empezado a diseñar patrones de punto. Esta es una salida creativa desafiante para mí, ¡realmente hace que mi cerebro funcione! Todos los patrones se prueban a fondo.

Otro aspecto del negocio que es importante para mí es la inclusión. Los pasatiempos de hilo no discriminan, todos podemos beneficiarnos de la relajación y la alegría que traen. Quiero que BumpyCrafts sea un lugar acogedor e inclusivo donde las personas puedan comprar, sabiendo que están haciendo una compra por sí mismas que los ayudará con el estrés diario de la vida.

Tengo una colección en mi tienda para PRIDE. Un porcentaje de las ventas de esta colección se destina a apoyar la salud mental en la comunidad LGBTQ +. Esta es una parte importante de mi negocio, todos tenemos derecho a elegir a quién amamos. Espero que disfrutes de los hilos, bolsos de proyecto y accesorios que hago para esta colección.

I’m Antonia…the founder of BumpyCrafts and BumpyYarn.

We have just relocated back to our home Country, UK and are now lucky and excited to be living in Worthing.

It all started 9 years ago, I left my home in the UK and moved to Germany with my husband and, at the time, my 12 year-old triplets. Although we were excited to start our new life, over the years, we have had to face some challenges without family or friends to support us.

These challenges created a lot of stress for me, but I found that my previous hobby of knitting and crochet helped me regulate my anxiety, happiness and mood.

There is a proven connection between knitting and crocheting and being calm and happy, plus the social aspect of yarn hobbies also helps my mental health by meeting up with other yarn enthusiasts or chatting on social media and sharing my latest projects

As I did more, I found I was getting disorganised and I realised I needed a project bag that would not only store my project, but would also organise all my extras… tape measure, pattern, scissors, notions etc. I felt that if my project was housed properly, then I would have a more organised mind.

But despite looking all over the place, I couldn’t find that perfect project bag…so I created my own. Then I thought maybe other people would want one too and that is when BumpyCrafts was born.

I work with my sidekick Snowy, our Westiepoo pooch! She is always with me when I am crafting, keeping me company. Normally, she will lie by my feet sleeping, but on occasion she will bump my leg with her nose, so I know she wants something, hence her nickname Bumpy…and the name of the company!

I love starting a new project and I make sure each one I’m working on has a specific bag, so that I can get it and myself organised, (plus it stops me kneeling on scissors, this is a very real thing!) I know many of you feel the same and that’s why I create lots of different styles and sizes.

I decided to start BumpyYarn when I purchased my first hand-dyed yarn. The colours, uniqueness and softness of the yarn, got me hooked! Luxury hand-dyed yarn is a real treat. It is a wonderful investment to purchase quality yarn. When I gift something I have made, I know the recipient will feel the softness and quality of the yarn and that it will last.

Using good quality, locally sourced natural yarns which are a renewable source and using cotton for my project bags, which is biodegradable, helps the environment. This is important to me. What we do today, taking small steps, will make a positive difference in protecting our environment for our children and the planet´s future!

I like to dye BumpyYarns with a theme in mind, taking inspiration from the world around me, or a memory or favourite movie or tv show. Sometimes it can be a name that triggers a unique colour way. I studied art and fashion design at college, and I know that my love of art plays an important role in the colour choices I make. The joy it brings me creating the yarns, I hope reflects in the finished product. BumpyYarn is not mass produced, it is created with love on a small scale.

I have started to design knitting patterns. This is a challenging creative outlet for me, it really gets my brain working! All patterns are thoroughly tested.

Another aspect of the business that is important to me is inclusivity. Yarn hobbies do not discriminate, we can all benefit from the relaxation and joy they bring. I want BumpyCrafts to be a welcoming inclusive place people can shop, knowing they are making a purchase for themselves that will help them with the daily stresses of life.

I have a collection in my shop for PRIDE. A percentage of sales from this collection goes to support mental health in the LGBTQ+ community. This is an important part of my business, we all have a right to choose who we love. I hope you will enjoy the yarns, project bags and accessories I make for this collection.
