It is all up to what you value.
My favorite piece of furniture is an old cabinet that my grandmother was able to purchase using coupons from a local grocery store. It was tall and skinny, painted white, made from cheap wood and veneer. To anyone else, it is probably worth nothing, but it gives me a lot of comfort.
Furniture and life is weird like that. We find what makes us happy or what suits us and it is often disconnected from price.
I make humble furniture. It is not going to fall apart on you.
I use common pine from the Adirondacks. I cut it, plane it, and sand it.
I use American plywood and veneers.
I love to paint a piece of furniture- I'm thinking right now of the color of a plum or an old beige like from houses in the 1800's.
When you pick your color, you personalize your furniture. You give it your spirit.
Let me make you an Island, cabinet, sideboard, - a place to put your stuff. I'll put big doors on it, if you want.
I hand deliver to your stoop in the NY tri-state area for free! you don't even have to give me a beer. John
