A little bit about HuggableEarth...
Hiya! Thanks for visiting my shop HuggableEarth. My name is Alicia. I love to create things. My favorite and the thing I am most skilled with is sewing. I absolutely love to sew. My main purpose for sewing is to make our lives, as ladies, a little less stressful and a lot more comfortable during a time of need. I have been making my own clothing since I was about 9 years old when I went to the craft store with my mom, shortly after learning how to sew, and saw leopard print and wanted to make myself pants from it!
Paper crafting is in my nature as well, as is jewelry making, bag making, clothing making, fiber arts, spinning, weaving, crocheting, I love to paint, draw, sketch, I sew custom plushies for my kids regularly, I quilt and digitize things on my embroidery software as well as digital art I make myself for my journals. I love mixed media junk journal making because it's just that... Add anything and make it a journal.
I first began sewing at the age of 7 when my Mother taught me. I LOVED it immediately! I am now a wife and mother of 4 little boys and began sewing for them by making them cloth diapers 9 years ago... I spent 3 full years perfecting the patterns for those while also making some things on the side, mainly clothing for myself and stuffed toys for them... All the while I learned so much about fabric types and how our disposable lifestyles are actually really harmful not only to our Earth but to our bodies too. HuggableEarth was born then. I make my items mainly with Organic fabrics, Hemp and Bamboo because they are better for the Earth and grow fast and they are so much better feeling than anything in the stores.
I specialize in making reusable cloth menstrual pads and liners and I believe strongly in what I do. I love what I do because periods are something that half of the population goes through for about a week out of every month, for about 35+ years of her life. I believe it goes unnoticed how little it is talked about. Not only how little it's talked about but also how very few items there are, that are actually healthy, that are available to us during our time of need... Which is often, I might add, very often...
We all have to live here and if we can reuse products to make it a better and cleaner place for our children and our children's children to grow then why not? Let's pave the way to a greener future for them. Not to mention how cute and comfortable cloth pads are! After all, we have laundry anyway :)
