An inkling is a faint thing. A half-formed thought, a question asked in the car on the way home, a spark of curiosity that hasn't become anything yet.
This shop exists to turn those into something you can hold.
I'm Otis, and this shop has two halves.
One is for the people who teach — nature study printables, homeschool unit studies, wall art, planners and picture books. The other is for fathers — shirts and gifts built around the kind of work that doesn't get applauded.
They look like different shops. They aren't. Both of them are about the quiet, unglamorous, repeated work that actually shapes a child, and about the adult doing it.
THE TEACHING SIDE
I make it one topic at a time. A packet on honey bees. One on the butterfly life cycle. One on the parts of a flower. Each one gets researched properly before anything gets drawn, because a diagram that's wrong is worse than no diagram at all — it gets learned, and then it has to be unlearned.
So if a label in one of my packets says a honey bee has five eyes, it's because a honey bee has five eyes. Two compound, three simple, on the top of the head. I can tell you where I checked.
Chalk & Wren is the name on that side — unit studies, nature printables, planners, posters and tees for the person doing the teaching. Whether that's thirty desks or a dining room table covered in open books, it's the same work, and I've never understood why anybody sells to those two people differently.
Most of what's aimed at educators is glitter and exclamation marks. This isn't that. It's made for the adult behind the lesson — capable, deeply invested, occasionally exhausted, and owed a bit more respect than a mug that says you're a superhero.
THE DAD SIDE
The Dad Workshop is the other name. Shirts and gifts for fathers, built on the idea that the workshop is a mindset rather than a garage. For some men it's a field of honest soil. For others it's a classroom desk, a clinic floor, a drafting table, or the family dinner table. The jokes are allowed. The dad is never the butt of them.
HOW THINGS ARE MADE
Everything is designed by me. I use AI tools as part of how the artwork gets made, and then I select, edit and direct the results — which in practice means throwing most of them away. I'd rather tell you that plainly than have you wonder.
Printables arrive as instant downloads you print at home. Apparel is printed to order in the US, so nothing sits in a box waiting.
If something turns up wrong, damaged or not what the listing promised, message me and I'll put it right. That isn't a policy, it's just the deal.
New work goes up regularly. Free coloring pages and sample packets at inklingsworld.com.
