Discovering Maximum Yield
After many years of being involved in the point of purchase industry I witnessed the large amount of waste being produced. The companies I worked for did have recycling programs but it never seemed like enough. Time and profit got in the way of intelligent and responsible material handling. A number of years ago in high school I was in a product design class and was given an assignment to design and build a plant stand from a single piece of wood, which was provided to each student. It taught us to be material mindful and to get the Maximum Yield from each piece of material used. This Maximum Yield mentality has stuck with me throughout my education and professional career and I have applied it to my production methods whenever possible. I am now in a position to expand my passion for responsible products and the art of seeing material potential. I source materials from forgotten pallets, old barns and discarded metal whenever possible. I do buy new materials for some projects but limit it as much as possible. Whether I reclaim or buy new I use every bit of material I can. I have been creating, designing and building ever since I can remember and can’t wait to show you what’s around the corner for Max Yield. So many ideas so little time!
