Why I Created This Zine Shop
My name is Monique McKay and I am the designer behind Honey Bliss Clothing here on Etsy where I make exclusive clothing and limited edition accessories that make girls feel their prettiest! While most people know me for my sewing skills, many do not know that fashion is not my number 1 passion. It's writing!
Ever since I was in the 4th grade I knew I wanted to be a published author. I spent most of my childhood and teen years working on books and novels with the intention of getting them published. But after high school when I picked up sewing, writing took a back seat and fashion took the steering wheel!
While I incorporated my creative writing talent into my clothing shop through crafting whimsical item descriptions (some descriptions of dresses were often complete with story lines, setting descriptions, characterization, plot twists..okay now I'm exaggerating!), I finally realized that I should open a whole new shop dedicated to my writing. I am currently working on a novel and so I'm getting its home (this shop) ready for its arrival. In the meantime, I will share my writings (some creative and some how-to guides) and whatever other zines I dream up for this shop.
Oh, and the name? Honey Bliss Publishing is a spin-off of my other shop Honey Bliss Clothing because they both share the same spirit, theme and aesthetic. My writing is basically a continuation of the pretty clothing I create, just in written form (if that makes sense). Except here I'm focused more on lifestyle than fashion.
