Hello, fellow ceramic lovers and memory keepers! 👋 I’m Pem, the creator behind Pemkham—a cozy Etsy studio where clay is transformed into one-of-a-kind, personalized ceramic pieces that turn everyday moments into cherished keepsakes.
My love for ceramics began in my grandmother’s kitchen. As a kid, I’d sit on a stool beside her, watching her shape clay into simple bowls and mugs, her hands dusted with earthy powder. She’d say, “Ceramics hold more than food or drink—they hold the warmth of the hands that make them, and the stories of the people who use them.” That thought stayed with me, even as I grew up and pursued a career in design. It wasn’t until a family reunion a few years ago that I turned that love into something more.
For the reunion, I wanted a gift that would bring our family closer—something that felt personal, not just bought from a store. I decided to make a set of ceramic plates, each engraved with a family member’s name and a tiny symbol that represented their personality (a book for my avid reader aunt, a paintbrush for my artist cousin, a dog paw for my uncle who rescues pups). When everyone opened their plates, the room filled with laughter and tears. My grandma held hers up, running her finger over the engraving, and said, “This is how you keep a family together—one meaningful thing at a time.” In that moment, Pemkham was born.
Today, every piece in my shop—whether it’s a custom-engraved ceramic plate for a holiday dinner, a hand-painted mug with a couple’s initials, a set of personalized tableware for a new home, or a tiny ceramic dish for jewelry—starts with a lump of high-quality stoneware clay. I roll, shape, and smooth each piece by hand, no mass-produced molds here. Then comes the best part: bringing your story to life. I engrave names, dates, quotes, and custom symbols with a steady hand, or paint delicate designs that reflect your vision—whether it’s a watercolor-style floral pattern for a wedding gift, or a child’s doodle for a parent’s birthday.
After shaping and decorating, each piece goes into my small home kiln for two firings—first to harden the clay, then to set the glaze. I use lead-free, food-safe glazes in soft, timeless hues: creamy whites, warm beiges, soft blues, and gentle greens. The glaze gives each piece a smooth, glossy finish that’s not only beautiful but durable—perfect for everyday use. I love that these pieces aren’t just “nice to look at”—they’re meant to be used: to hold morning coffee, to serve Sunday brunch, to sit on a shelf as a reminder of a special moment.
What I cherish most about this work is hearing from customers. Like the bride who told me her custom wedding plates were the centerpiece of her reception, or the mom who sent a photo of her toddler using their personalized mug at breakfast, proud to see their name on it. These pieces aren’t just ceramics—they’re little pieces of joy that tie people to their most beloved memories.
I believe that the most special gifts are the ones that feel “made just for you.” A ceramic plate engraved with your family’s last name, to use at every holiday gathering. A mug with your favorite quote, to start your days with inspiration. A set of personalized tableware for a newlywed couple, to mark the start of their life together. These are the pieces that get passed down, that become family heirlooms.
Every step of the process—from kneading the clay to the final glaze firing—is done with care and intention. I’m not just making ceramics; I’m helping you preserve your stories, one handcrafted piece at a time.
Thank you for letting me be part of your journey. Whether you’re looking for a gift that will be remembered forever, or a special piece for your own home, I’m here to turn your ideas into something tangible, beautiful, and full of warmth.

P.S. If you peek into my studio, you’ll find a shelf of “imperfect” pieces—mugs with slightly lopsided handles, plates with off-center engravings. I keep them as a reminder that beauty is in the imperfection, just like our stories. And if you have a custom idea, don’t hesitate to reach out—I love collaborating to make something truly unique! 🧱✨

4 out of 5 starsMy first order of the item came out very blurry and pixelated. Seller was great communicating and got me a replacement for no charge. Didn’t get tracking for the second item, but it got to me no problem. The final product is still not quite what I wanted, but far less blurry. Kinda meh experience but maybe it was just my pattern/image, as I see other buyers don’t seem to have the same issue. 🤷♀️
