for the sake of beauty
This shop was born out of my love for beautiful things. Beautiful things that aren't perfect. Beautiful things that were handmade or made in a time when things were crafted slowly and with a quality not often found today. Things that have survived decades of use and have decades more to give. Beautiful things not just hidden away for special occasions but meant to be used, touched, seen, enjoyed and that elevate the ordinary day. Items and treasures that speak of the love for beauty that God has written on the hearts of all men. He is the author of beauty, after all.
Personally, rooted in domestic inspiration passed down through generations, my mother inherited a deep appreciation for beauty from my Oma, Ina (pronounced EE-nah), which she lovingly imparted to me. So, here we are.
"A Christian, who realizes he has been made in the image of the Creator God and is therefore meant to be creative on a finite level, should certainly have more understanding of his responsibility to treat God's creation with sensitivity, and should develop his talents to do something to beautify his little spot on the earth's surface....Remember that He who created you to be creative gave you the things with which to make beauty and gave you the sensitivity to appreciate and respond to His creation. Creativity is His gift to you and the 'raw materials' to be put together in various ways are His gift to you as well." - Edith Schaeffer, The Hidden Art of Homemaking
