About SEVENERA
Hi, for anyone reading this --- I'm Eva:)
I studied design, but when I graduated, I couldn’t find a single design job. The world was obsessed with finance back then. Everyone said art and design students would starve. So I took the first job I could find—a reception desk at an office in Sydney. I remember thinking: nothing matters more than making rent. I didn’t have the courage to pursue design. That would take validation, time, talent I wasn’t sure I had.
But every evening after work, I’d find myself scrolling through design blogs, wandering into galleries, losing hours in vintage shops. It was instinctive—my eyes just gravitated toward beautiful things. While my colleagues debated stock markets and property prices over lunch, I’d be secretly browsing jewelry designs on Pinterest.
The turning point came unexpectedly.
I’m a foreign student studying at a university in Shanghai, China. One trip back in China, a friend suggested we visit Shanxiahu Town in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province. “Best pearls in the world,” she said. I didn’t know much about pearls then. I just thought I might buy myself something nice.
When we arrived, I realized it was an entirely different world.
The whole town lives and breathes pearls. Wholesale shops line every street. Pearl farms stretch one after another. I watched a master craftsman open oysters for the first time—his movements were swift and practiced. The shell would crack open, and a pearl would tumble into his palm. Most were ordinary. But every so often, one would appear with a completely different quality of light.
I asked if I could choose some myself.
He smiled. “Do you know how to choose?”
“No,” I said. “But I know what looks beautiful.”
I crouched there for an entire afternoon, sorting through pearls. I wasn’t picking the roundest or the largest. I was drawn to the ones that made me feel something—"yes, this one". Maybe it was the layers of luster, maybe an unusual shape, maybe just an inexplicable feeling. After years of studying design, the only thing I’d really trained was my eye.
Back in Sydney, I started a small side project while keeping my reception job. I’d source pearls from Zhuji, hand-select each one, string them into necklaces and bracelets, and sell them through social media. To my surprise, people bought them. They’d tell me they loved the pearls I chose—“they feel different from what you’d find in department stores.”
Gradually, orders grew. I brought together a small team. We make regular trips to Zhuji to select pearls ourselves. We’re not a jewelry dynasty. We don’t know the science of pearl cultivation. But we understand what’s beautiful, what’s worth keeping.
You don’t need to worry about quality from Shanxiahu—it’s the global center of the pearl industry, with a supply chain that’s honestly astonishing. The suppliers we work with have been doing this for fifteen, twenty years. They understand pearls better than any textbook ever could.
Not every design graduate becomes a famous designer. But we can bring beauty to people.
And that’s enough.

The Meaning of SEVENERA
SEVEN— Represents the formation cycle of a pearl. A truly lustrous freshwater pearl often takes 3-7 years to develop slowly inside the oyster. This number reminds us: beautiful things are worth the wait.
ERA — An age, a period of time. Each pearl carries the era in which it grew—the water temperature fluctuations, the changing seasons, even the particular “temperament” of that oyster, all crystallized within its layers. Every pearl is a unique slice of time.
Together, SEVENERA isn’t just about pearls. It’s about:
- Authentic beauty earned through time
- Not chasing instant perfection, but appreciating natural uniqueness
- Everyone has their own growth timeline, just as every pearl has its own story
