My desire to support sustainable fashion led me to create my shop.
As a little girl, you could easily find me sketching up designs of the most perfect outfit for every occasion imaginable or day-dreaming about a dress I saw at a shop window and outfitting them to perfection. Once my grandma taught me how to use the sewing machine, this obsession then turned into altering and upcycling my existing clothes to fit my body better and upgrade my clothes to be more uniquely me.
I have worked in the DTLA wholesale district, with a direct link to manufacturing brands specializing women's fashion for nearly a decade — I worked with designing, fit samples, fabric selecting as well as store front sales, trade shows and eCommerce during this time.
Working so closely with clothes in the manufacturing industry made me fall in love with fashion all over again. Even more so with being a part of the creative process. Creating each style and sample with fabric selection, fit and body types just came naturally to me.
But it also opened my eyes to how problematic the waste can be. There are tremendous lack of consideration towards sustainability and negative impact on the environment in today's fast fashion industry. Sometimes perfectly wearable TOP samples (Top of the Production Samples) get dropped just because and we are left with perfectly good clothing down the drain.
This encouraged me to choose thrift over the trendy new fast fashion pieces in my personal wardrobe and found myself upcycling pre-owned clothes once again.
While I second hand shop for myself, I sometimes find amazing pieces that I can picture on someone else that would look fabulous! And my experience and love for fashion gave me a great eye for seeing the true potential of the garment.
Each style in my shop is hand picked and inspected for damages and are made sure to have minimal signs of wear. I understand that thrift shopping is not easily available to everyone and I hope this can close some gap on your desire to purchase second hand.
I hope to soon get to upcycle and produce more sustainable pieces with scrap fabrics and existing pieces, but for now I'd like to offer gently loved, pre-owned clothing at an accessible price point for everyone who is interested.
I hope you enjoy your time at my shop! and I appreciate all your support.
