A life long love affair with vintage and retro textiles
I have obsessively collected vintage lines (doilies, tablecloths, bed sheets, etc.) for years, using them in my home and repurposing them into all sorts of gifts for family and friends. In 2009 I realized my collection far exceeded my need and with encouragement from my family, I officially launched Retro Revival!
Incorporating textiles and other items that are otherwise destined for the trash heap or musty basements and closets, into wearable, usable, everyday beauty is my passion. I sew every day. It’s more than just a business and what I do for a living. It’s what I dream about ~ really! I wake up every morning, itching to get into my studio and get my hands on fabric and turn it into things real women want to wear.
I have a particular soft spot for aprons because what’s better than the feeling of being wrapped up in a protective and pretty embrace, especially when the fabric has a history?! Many of my aprons are made from vintage, 1950’s tablecloths.
Oh! And I make women’s waterproof, washable shower caps! Why you may ask? Because this curly, frizzy haired gal goes to a lot of work transforming her hair into a presentable ‘do and the shower steam destroys my coif! I couldn’t find a decent looking cap that actually worked so I made one, then dozens more and gifted them to more friends and family before I had perfected the design. Fast forward four years and I’ve sold thousands of them, yes, thousands! Curly haired ladies unite!
