Words give inspiration to everyone.
I started this wood sign shop in May 2014. I wanted to paint wood signs that had words and quotes. Sometimes all of us need inspiration in our lives, even if it is a simple quote on the wall. Some of these wood signs may have painting scenes as well as the words. Some of these signs are much like a piece of art work to me. I actually have some signs that are my favorites. I have always loved art even as a young child. I believe it is never too late to do what you love and to love what you do. "Do What You Love, love What You Do". That quote is in one of my signs. I started making these wood signs as gifts to family and friends. Then I decided to put them on Etsy. I currently live and work in Raleigh, NC. I work fulltime as a teacher. And I always tell children to never stop trying.
Most of these wood signs are a white pinewood. I work alone to create these signs, from start to finish. There are a few steps involved to create these signs. I buy the wood boards fresh from a lumber yard with no chemicals on them. This is real wood. They will cut them for me. I hand sand or sometimes use an electric palm sander on each sign. Then I base color each sign with acrylic paint. Then I begin painting the words and scenery. Then I distress the signs slightly to give an aged look. I use a waterbase wood stain on the stained wood sign. On each sign I put a sawtooth hanger on back. For some signs I use stencil or free hand. There are no two signs alike because they are hand made. Then I apply a non-toxic sealer on each sign. There are a lot of steps involved in making these signs. My production time can be from 2-3 weeks. I also do custom orders. Most of the wood signs are made to order. Just be specific and tell me what you want.
