Preserving a Lost Art
The idea of letting beautiful hand woven sarees just go into a landfill was so painful to me. All the love and toil that went into creating the entire piece, just being added to our ever increasing pile of garbage was avoidable. Even machine made sarees with hand embroidery or hand work done on them, someone's talent and sweat being discarded with such abandon.
I fell upon the industry of recycling of gently used preloved sarees when I started to think about my own saree collection, and have never looked back. I was completely enamored with the idea of saving, not only a lost art, but also saving the earth by minimizing our landfill. I feel very fortunate about discovering this small industry and am committed to continuing to make an impact, however small, on our environment, our pockets, while preserving this lost art.
Whether my pieces are used as sarees, or used to make alternate outfits, the goal of recycling and preserving fits exactly into my innate nature.
I hope that my buyers feel the same way and support me in this endeavor.
