Premium Handcrafted Woodwork and Digital Plans
Hello! My name is David Strout and I love to make things. I am a passionate maker, and have always enjoyed the creativity, utility, and beauty that wood provides. There is something incredibly tactile and satisfying about woodwork, and I try and showcase these qualities in my dugouts. In all of my work, I try to let the wood showcase its own natural elegance - highlighting the grain and allowing the organic shape of the material to guide my crafting of it.
My fascination with woodworking began in 2011 when I took an interest in turning wooden pens. Soon, I became more drawn into the wood shop as I learned of the endless possibilities that the tools offered. I spent a good portion of my free time watching videos of other woodworkers, gaining new knowledge and building a reservoir of project ideas. Much of my skill is self-taught, and I am always finding new ways to grow as a craftsman.
I currently work as the manager of the Georgetown University Maker Hub. The space is truly incredible and I have so much fun playing with all of the woodworking equipment, 3D printers, laser cutter, and everything else.
