To create is to let go

Let me introduce myself, I'm Jessica and I love painting and color!
I used to have a great love for everything that had to do with drawing and color. My passion for painting started when I was introduced to painting by my sister about 12 years ago. Since then I have made many paintings. I started with acrylic paint and later also oil paint.
Even though I thought it was a fantastic thing to do, I had a big pitfall. And that was that I set the bar so high for myself that it wasn't always a fun experience to paint. It had to and would be as perfect and realistic as possible and actually I never lived up to the idea I had in my head. So over the years I had phases in which I painted and phases in which I had to recover from my feeling of failure.
Fortunately, I learned that it is not so much about perfectionism, but rather the pleasure in painting and that is what I have found. Last year I let go of everything and the Sky is the limit. Now I use different media like fluid acrylics, acrylic inks and Alcohol Inks. And I love it!
In my shop you will come across different works with different media.

Hi wat leuk dat je een kijkje neemt in mijn Etsy winkeltje!
Ik zal mij eens eventjes voorstellen, ik ben Jessica en ik hou van schilderen en van kleur!
Vroeger had ik een grote voorliefde voor alles wat met tekenen en kleur te maken had. Mijn passie voor schilderen begon toen ik zo'n 12 jaar geleden door mijn zus geïntroduceerd werd in het schilderen. Sindsdien heb ik vele schilderijen gemaakt. Ik ben begonnen met acrylverf en later ook olieverf.
Ondanks dat ik het fantastisch vond om te doen, had ik een grote valkuil.. En dat was dat ik de lat zo hoog voor mijzelf legde dat het eigenlijk helemaal niet altijd een leuke ervaring was om te schilderen. Het moest en zou zo perfect en realistisch mogelijk zijn en eigenlijk voldeed ik daar nooit aan het idee wat ik daarvan in mijn hoofd had. Dus door de jaren heen had ik fasen waarin in schilderde en fasen waarin ik moest bijkomen van mijn gevoel van falen.
Gelukkig leerde ik dat het niet zozeer gaat om het perfectionisme, maar juist de plezier in het schilderen en dat is wat ik heb gevonden. Afgelopen jaar heb ik alles los gelaten en the Sky is the limit. Nu gebruik ik verschillende media zoals fluid acrylics, acrylic inks en Alcohol Inks. And I love it!
In mijn winkeltje kom je dus verschillende werken tegen met verschillende media.
