TIM TAS & REK is a workshop for the manufacture of bicycle bags and carriers, located in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
I get inspired by the beautiful French bikes from the 50s. Befor the car boom the bicycle was a status symbol packed with the latest technology. Many trips were organized to enjoy the beautiful French countryside, where one constantly shifted his limits and distances became longer, one rode day and night.
This sense of adventure and freedom, I want to appear into my bags, by giving a contemporary version of the traditional style, with an eye for improved ease of use.
By working and refining the product, until I like it and it works perfectly.
Not only the sporting element is important, but I also want to enhance the everyday cycling experience, make it more stylish and better, because I believe in this environmental friendly transport.
Because the studio is located in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, holland, I can maintain short lines with customers.
I like special requests, ideas, they can be a start for a new or modified product.
I can be reached at: info [!at] timtas.nl
I work with materials which themselves already have a stylish and timeless look.
Stainless steel tubing combines truly beautiful in every frame and does not need to be chromed (which is damaging to the environment).
Because I use cold rivetting and bolting techniques, the structure of the stainless steel gets little affected, it does’nt need not be passivated, which is nocuous and I don’t have to breath welding fumes.
Waxed canvas is a great product: it is a solid fabric that remains both breathable and waterproof.
quote from supplier:
“The canvas is 100% cotton and is usually 550 grams per m2. It is made in Pakistan and each year the manufacturer stays a week at my place. He assured me that no children work in his factory. Customers who have been there confirm that. The canvas comes into yarn and is woven and dyed in the factory and waxed with wax. All naturally. It actually has no maintenance. The color becomes more pale by rain and sunshine. But that’s a natural reaction. I heard from a customer she always gets eczema on her hands in the processing of other canvas. and that she got no eczema of the canvas I sell . This indicates that no chemicals are added. with best regards, cees Cousijnsen”
I use a cotton / polyester yarn which swells when it gets wet, in combination with a fine needle in order to make the seams as watertight as possible.
