A Family Tradition Turned into Business
Cuando era pequeña jugaba en la sala de costura de mi abuela mientras ella trabajaba en diferentes proyectos. A medida que crecía un poco, ella me daba pequeñas tareas para completar y me enseñaba técnica en el camino. Siempre pensé que era muy divertido crear piezas, incluso cuando no tenían ningún propósito, y jugar con las telas y el hilo.
Mi abuela falleció hace unos años, pero todavía tengo la misma fascinación por el arte de la fibra que hace años en su sótano. Después de mudarme a Uganda después de la universidad, conocí a mi esposo y nos casamos. Poco después del matrimonio dejé mi trabajo y decidí que quería vender mi arte a tiempo completo.
Cada uno de los diseños que ves en Thistle and Thread está diseñado por mí mismo y cosido por Paul y yo. Trabajamos mano a mano para crear cada pieza de principio a fin. Notarás que lanzamos nuevos diseños en una colección, y cada colección se crea a partir de las cosas que actualmente nos inspiran.
Nos encanta poder crear piezas únicas para el hogar y la idea de que una pequeña parte de nuestro negocio y corazón se haya abierto camino en la vida de tantas personas es la motivación para mantenernos avanzando.

When I was a little girl I would play in my grandmother's sewing room while she worked on different projects. As I became a little bit older she would give me little tasks to complete and would teach me technique along the way. I always thought it was so fun to create pieces, even when they had no purpose, and play with the fabrics and thread.
My grandmother passed away a few years ago, but I still have the same fascination with fiber art as I did years ago in her basement. After moving to Uganda after college, I met my husband and we were married. Soon after marriage I quit my job and decided that I wanted to sell my art full time.
Each of the designs that you see from Thistle and Thread are designed by myself and stitched by Paul and I. We work hand in hand to create each piece from start to finish. You will notice that we release new designs in a collection, and each collection is created from the things currently inspiring us.
We love being able to create unique pieces for the home and the thought that a small piece of our business and heart have made its way into the lives of so many people is the motivation to keep us moving forward.
