Hi there! My names is Kat and I’m a hand embroidery artist. From a young age I fell in love with embroidery. I love how it magically transports me to a relaxed, creative and happy world. I went on to study Product Design at London College of Fashion and perused a career in buying and later customer research. Following the birth of my daughters, i was given the opportunity to reevaluate life and Treasure Kave was born. I believe in designing beautiful, quality and fun gifts that will be treasured for years to come. To ‘sow’ my love of embroidery, I have a growing range of embroidery kits which are designed to be fun and accessible for all abilities.
What inspires me: I lam totally obsessed with textures, l think that’s why l love embroidery so much and all the possibilities to create luxurious shapes. As a kid l would spend hours in a fabric shop exploring all the fabrics and that’s still one of my favourite things to do today. When l’m not in a fabric shop or a gallery looking at period costumes, l’m outside soaking up all the wonderful inspiration nature and wildlife offers. Growing up in the New Forest with my dad who was a wildlife fanatic, it feels so comfortable being outside listening to birdsong and being still waiting to spot something spectacular.
Today embroidery is my me time, its my creative outlet and my go to if l’m feeling anxious or stressed. Just like it did when l was a kid it takes me to a magical and relaxed place and l’m sure l’m a better person after it. So l was not surprised to learn that Embroidery has proven medical, emotional and physiological benefits. Turns out the simple act of sewing has proven health benefits that will enhance your wellbeing.
