Preserving Nature's Finest Wood Specimens 💚
My Name is Laura and I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. As a child I tried to explore any form of art I could get my hands on including painting, sculpture, photography, metal working, drawing, graphic design, industrial arts, and woodworking.
As a young adult I worked in furniture restoration and refinishing and was also taking several woodshop classes at the local community college. I wanted to learn how to make my own custom furniture and decor so that other people could not only enjoy my artistic creations but use them as well.
When I began making my own pieces I was able to incorporate almost all of the art and craft skills I had learned from my youth. In my woodworking classes I had grown partial to the scroll saw, the lathe, and carving tools because I could create intricate designs and patterns to make my pieces more artistic and decorative.
As much as I enjoy making simple pieces of wood look detailed and unique I have also grown to love spalted wood because often times it already has those qualities without altering them. In cases like this, I tend to leave the pieces as natural as possible so that I don't take away from or compete with the beauty it already showcases.
My love for woodworking has only grown over the years and I hope to continue learning and evolving with new skills, knowledge, and experience. I hope you enjoy my handcrafted pieces as much as I do 💚
