Valentin Popov Atmospheres
My work is an ode to nature's timelessness, atmospheric images where the familiar and the strange blur, evoking memory, curiosity, and quiet wonder.
Process:
Textures, minerals, and organic forms are reassembled into ambiguous new compositions and the resulting scene is photographed. My work is 100% real macro photography, no AI-generated imagery. I use a dedicated macro lens and a technique called focus stacking, where dozens of images are taken at various focal points and assembled into one picture. This technique allows me to capture every detail of the scenes.
Background:
Trained as a chemist in France, I later moved to Sweden and took marketing and creative roles within scientific companies. It is during the long Swedish winters that I started experimenting with art and photography. In late 2022, I left Sweden to travel and pursue this calling. It crystallized into one goal: explore, understand, and create emotional atmospheres.
Today, I'm also a product visualizer for furniture brands, shaping atmospheres through spaces too.
Thank you for looking closer.
