Why, Alice!
Hi! I am very happy you've come here to learn a little more :)
Please let me explain my shop's name. The WhyAlice is not pronounced as if you were asking a question, like Why, Alice?. More correctly it is Why, Alice!, with an exclamation point. As if I have just astounded you -- and that's a sound I love! My grandmother Louise, who was a huge fan of mine all my life, would say this to me when I showed her my most recently completed project. It could be any sort of crafty, artistic or interesting thing, and upon completion I would waste no time in taking it by her house to show her :) All these years later, I can clearly hear her say "Why, Alice!" in her slow southern drawl as she looks at my latest creation. My mom was always my very first -- and always enthralled -- audience, of course, but I really loved that exclamation point from my grandma. And it is my hope that I will give you reason, as you look at any of my things, to give me a "Why, Alice!"
So, in trying for that deep ah-ha moment with total strangers, I feel compelled to make these customized things. I absolutely love to make a customer exactly what they want, and I am a terrible perfectionist, which happens to be a great thing for the customer lol I take in as much or as little information as you feel like giving on custom orders and go from there. The stories that are behind any and all requests make my life so much fuller! It is very easy to make the little details match, such as a doll's hair color, or a tiny monogram on a tiny door. I want your project to be as special to you as mine was to me. You can't imagine the happiness you bring by giving someone the gift of something made especially for them.
