From Osaka, Japan — Japanese art, graphic apparel, digital works, objects, and stories from bar & design "nextHome".
nextform presents bar & design "nextHome", a members-only bar and creative space in Osaka, Japan.
nextHome began as a place for people, conversations, music, design, and the ideas that emerge late at night — thoughts that do not always fit comfortably within ordinary conventions.
Over time, those fragments began to take physical and digital forms.
A drawing became a T-shirt.
A question became an artwork.
A memory became an image.
A story became music.
The works presented here include Japanese art, graphic apparel, digital works, objects, and visual stories. Some begin with literature, philosophy, psychology, history, or old legends. Others begin with something much smaller: a conversation at the counter, a feeling that remained after midnight, or a question that refused to disappear.
Many of the designs contain details that are not immediately visible — words, names, symbols, or traces hidden within the artwork. They are not decoration added afterward. They are part of the reason the work exists.
We are interested in the gap between what something appears to be and what it actually carries inside.
A distorted beak may be evidence of compassion.
An animal portrait may contain the names of those who came before it.
A seemingly simple image may hold a story about sanity, freedom, memory, mortality, or what it means to be real.
nextHome does not separate design from story.
The object is the story.
The image is the story.
The words hidden inside it are also the story.
This Etsy shop is another doorway into that world.
Physical products and digital works may take different forms, but they come from the same place: late-night ideas, fragments of life, and a certain difficulty in making peace with what is considered “normal.”
