This two-tone beaded bracelet kit includes:
- 2 half tubes of size 8/0 Japanese seed beads totaling about 22gm (more than needed),
- 4 yds of S-Lon beading cord, color coordinated to the beads,
- a stainless steel lantern-shaped 3mm magnetic clasp (in gold, platinum, or rose gold),
- step-by-step instructions for loom set up for (a) one color of beads and for (b) 2 colors of beads,
- step-by-step photos for adding beads to a standard round braid,
- step-by-step instructions for attaching the clasp, and
- Super New Glue 3 gm bottle.
Choose a bead color combo and a clasp color from the 2 dropdown lists. Most of the combos are made of one gloss and one matte/frosted color bead...most beads are variegated or rainbow. The Wild Blackberries shades are two matte finishes that look like half ripe wild berries (shown in several photos), and the Purple Raspberries are two glossy iridescent beads (more purple and more magenta than they appear on my monitor). The Peacock Feather combo is interesting...the matte beads are a custom mix just for this bracelet and the glossy beads are blue green inside with a clear dark yellow glass outside.
One photo in the listing shows you the difference in the diameter of an 8/0 beaded braid and a 6/0 beaded braid. This kit makes the narrower bracelet. (A separate listing in our shop makes a thicker 6/0 beaded bracelet.) Another photo shows how to separate the strong clasp magnets the first time, using needle nose pliers or tweezers.
You will need your own Kumihimo tools: a KumiLoom™ (or similar loom) and scissors, plus a basic knowledge of making round braids ("right down, left up"). For this bracelet, you will be working with beads on all eight strands. Bobbins are not needed since the cords are so short. Braiding with beads requires different tension than when making a braid with cord only, so I don't recommend this project as your very first Kumihimo project. Try a round braid with cords first before attempting a beaded one!
If you would like to see how the beads look when sliding into place, see the short video in the listing. If you would like to order a custom color combo, send me a message describing what you wish you could have, I'll let you know if I can put it together for you. No extra cost.
