Information I Collect
To complete an order, you must provide me with certain information (that you have authorized Etsy to share with me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and order details. You can also provide me with additional personal details (in the case of a custom order) if you contact me directly.
Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It
I rely on many legal bases for collecting, using and sharing information, including:
- when necessary, to provide my services, for example when I use your data to fulfill an order, resolve disputes or provide customer service;
- when you have given your consent, which you can revoke at any time, for example by subscribing to my mailing list;
- if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim such as retaining information about purchases, if required by tax law; and
if it is necessary for the purposes of my legitimate interests, if these legitimate interests do not override your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your data to provide the services you have requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with Etsy's Seller Policies and Terms of Use. I use your information to meet my obligations under Etsy's Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
Information sharing and disclosure
My customer information is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances as follows:
- Etsy. I am providing Etsy with the information necessary to provide you with my services and fulfill my obligations under both Etsy's Seller Policy and Etsy's Terms of Use.
- Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and services for my store, such as courier companies. I will share your personal data with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
- Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information in this transaction only to the extent permitted by law.
- Legal compliance. I may collect, use, store and share your information when I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to a legal process or government request; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and conditions; (c) prevent, investigate and deal with fraud and other illegal activities, security, or technical problems; or (d) protect the rights, property and safety of my customers or others.
Data storage
I only keep your personal data for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce my contracts. Generally, I keep your data for: 5 years.
Your rights
If you live in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal data. While some of these rights are generally applicable, some rights are only applicable in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:
- Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact details below.
- Change, limit, delete. You may also have the right to change, limit my use or delete your personal data. In the absence of exceptional circumstances (e.g. when I am required to store data for legal reasons), I will generally delete your personal data upon request.
- Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after you have expressly consented to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal data, unless I have valid and legitimate grounds for further use of this information or if it is necessary for legal reasons.
- Complain. If you live in the EU and want to object to my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.
