On the phone since the 1980s
Hi, I'm Alison ~ Welcome to the shop!
My involvement with telephones goes back to the 1980s when I was the office manager for a small independent phone company in Toronto. I spent my days doing bookkeeping, reception, invoicing and keeping the installers in line.
I left that job but have maintained my friendships within the company in the decades since then.
My former boss was a telephone guy from way back with a passion for telephony. He had worked for Bell before starting his own small business. Now, 40 years on, he is downsizing his collection and had some phones he wanted to sell ... I suggested offering them on Etsy and "CallMeMaybePhones" was born.
We weren't terribly active for a couple of years, but we now carry a mixture of telephones from my friend and phones I have sourced myself.
I have been taking advantage of my friend's expertise with multiple generations of phones. He has been teaching me about the telephone's inner workings, how to rewire tastefully, change cords and just generally fix and test things, and about the history behind the phones and their design. I have had a great time learning from him. With the help of another former associate with a background in chemistry, we have figured out the best ways to clean the telephones and ensure that we are not using products that might degrade the phone's appearance over time.
Every phone that we sell is carefully refurbed, tested and polished. We don't just shine things up and hope for the best.
I am so pleased when a customer is happy with our products and every compliment we receive is received with heartfelt gratitude.
If you're looking for a good, carefully prepared vintage phone, you've come to the right place.
Feel free to get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you!
