Here is my story:
Hi, I'm Milina. I design, sew, paint and craft. I spent my childhood drawing, painting, sewing, embroidering and reading. I always wanted to bring my ideas to life, I have a lot of them stuck in my head and scribbled on hundreds of papers and I have never enough time for everything. But that is me. My hands just want to make new things and try different possibilities and different art expressions. I'm not a niche, just by myself. I will be not happy doing one thing. It is too boring for me.
As a child, I loved designing and sewing dresses and wedding gowns for my Barbie dolls. I followed my dream and went to the School of Applied Arts in Slovakia, where I graduated in 2005 in Textile hand-processing in Arts, which included fashion design, pattern making, and fabric technology.
I was making my own designs and I was helping out my family with creating historic princess dresses in their costume studio. I also spend time painting and drawing and reading books, because I love fairy tales, myths and legends.
When I came to London and started my label MIIM Design, which was me designing and sewing dresses, and making hats and accessories. I started to make more wedding dresses, but as I started a family I explored items for children too and acquired a lovely embroidery machine which can bring my ideas to life even faster.
Now, as a mother of two children, I work from home, designing, sewing and painting as I like to make the world a more pretty place. I found out myself that if you surround yourself with pretty things you feel more happy in everyday life. Also, all the kids in the family love handmade presents, so it is great to offer them to you in my shop as well, helping me to keep crafting.
