Welcome to Objectification
Jarenlang noemden we onze schuur "de winkel" omdat het gebouw in 1986 werd gerenoveerd met als doel een antiek winkelcentrum met verhuurde ruimte te creëren. Helaas is dit nooit helemaal uitgekomen.
In werkelijkheid werd de schuur een privéparadijs voor hamsteraars! Gesloten voor ongeveer 15-20 jaar, huisvestte de schuur de overloop van mijn persoonlijke, privécollectie van vintage verspreid over meer dan 6.000 vierkante voet en zowat elk type verzamelobject dat je je maar kunt voorstellen.
In de afgelopen 10 jaar hebben mijn familie en ik onvermoeibaar gewerkt om deze vergeten schat aan vintage in mijn kleine stad op te ruimen en te organiseren, en we openen nu de familiecollectie voor het publiek online. We kopen ook lokale landgoederen en plaatsen de beste schatten en artefacten van hen.
Objectivering: ongewone objecten van intrinsieke kwaliteit. Verder kijkend dan nut en traditionele ideeën over wat verzamelbaar of decoratief is, in de overtuiging dat de kunst van het object zijn eigen nut is.
For many years we called our barn "the shop" because in 1986 the building was renovated with the goal of creating an antique mall with rented out space. Unfortunately this never fully materialized.
In reality the barn became a hoarder's private paradise! Closed up for about 15-20 years, the barn housed the overflow of my personal, private collection of vintage spanning over 6,000 square feet and just about every type of collectible you can imagine.
Over the past 10 years my family and I have worked tirelessly to clean up and organize this forgotten treasure-trove of vintage located in my small town, and we now open the family collection to the public online. We also purchase local estates and post the best treasures and artifacts from them.
Objectification: unusual objects of intrinsic quality. Looking beyond utility and traditional ideas of what is collectible or decorative, in the belief that the art of the object is its own utility.
