    Woodwright, Owner, Maker

Hi, I’m Ross — the owner, woodwright, and maker behind every Spectrum Woodwright piece. It’s just me in the workshop for now, crafting each order by hand, but I hope one day to bring more neurodivergent makers into the fold as the business grows.

Frequently asked questions

🧽 Product Aftercare

Natural hardwoods need a little ongoing care to stay beautiful and last a lifetime. I recommend treating your piece with a wood balm, ideally my custom recipe "with my Ain’t No Planed Jane!" to nourish the wood and protect its natural colour and depth.

• Never place in a dishwasher, soak, or leave standing in water.
• Avoid high heat or direct sunlight, which can cause warping or fading.
• Keep away from staining foods such as beetroot or turmeric when the surface feels dry.
• Wipe clean with a damp cloth, dry thoroughly, and store somewhere well-ventilated.
• Reapply balm at least every fortnight during regular use to maintain protection and lustre.

*I can’t offer returns/refunds for items damaged through neglect/poor aftercare*

✎ Custom and personalised orders

Personalisation is free on orders over £25 and available on most items. Once you’ve shared your engraving details, I’ll message you to confirm the design and layout before anything is engraved.

This ensures your piece comes out exactly as you imagined, but can delay postage if you don't confirm the engraving. Please check you Etsy messages after ordering to confirm your design.

❗ AHH - I made a typo when ordering the free personalisation.

No stress if you realise you made a typo when ordering personalisation or change your mind about your engraving — it happens!

I always confirm every personalisation design with you before engraving, so there’s a chance to double-check and make any adjustments before it’s made permanent.

However I am unable to issue any refunds or returns on engraved items if you confirm the design and realise after delivery but please do message if you have any issues.

📦 Delivery Info:

All orders are shipped from my Manchester workshop using trusted delivery partners, with full tracking included on every parcel.
Each piece is oiled, waxed, and hand-wrapped before posting — please allow a little extra time for care and finishing.

Estimated times:

U.K. – 2 – 3 postal days
Europe – 5 – 10 postal days
Rest of world – 7 – 15 postal days

For personalised or custom orders, dispatch times can be delayed awaiting engraving confirmation from you. Check your Etsy messages.

If you need a piece by a certain date, please message me before ordering/asap after — I’ll always do my best to meet your deadline.

Delays caused by postal services or customs are rare but outside my control; I’ll help however I can if something goes astray.

🎁 Gift wrapping and packaging

We ship all orders without pricing visible unless required by customs.

Every order is oiled, waxed, and hand-wrapped. I can engrave your message directly onto the piece itself for something truly lasting if gifting.

If you wish you can pay for upgraded gift packaging which is wrapped with wrapping paper if wishing to send directly to the person you're gifting to.

🌳 Responsible Timber Sourcing

While I often work with considered use of exotic and highly figured timbers, every piece I use is sourced responsibly and ethically.

I never support illegal logging or unlawful import of CITES restricted timber. Using certified timber merchants/friends sourcing responsibly from windfall, deadfall, managed forests or plantations.

Much of my collection has been gifted, reclaimed, or collected from retired craftspeople over the years.

I’ve built up a small treasure trove of rare and beautiful timbers that I feel genuinely privileged to work with. (My partner says I’m like a beaver 🦦, always hoarding interesting bits of wood!)

I take pride in turning these remarkable materials into heirloom-quality pieces that will last.

♻️ Sustainability

Every Spectrum Woodwright piece is made with sustainability in mind — true sustainability, not just greenwashing.

I use recyclable or compostable packaging wherever possible, and continually look for ways to reuse or repurpose wood shavings within the workshop.
Offcuts are transformed into smaller projects or practical workshop tools rather than wasted.

From start to finish, I aim to respect both the material and the environment it came from.

I understand the concerns around the environmental impact of hardwoods, particularly exotic species.

However, each piece is built to last — and that longevity means a much smaller carbon footprint over time compared to disposable or short-lived products.

✨ Bespoke Orders & 🏷️ Wholesale availability

✨ Bespoke Orders

If you’d like to commission a bespoke piece, I’m happy to discuss your ideas — whether it’s choosing specific woods, adjusting dimensions, or developing something completely new. I’ll sketch or mock up your design before starting, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.

🏷️ Wholesale availability
I’m always open and have experience collaborating with shops, restaurants, or design studios who share my love for quality materials and craftsmanship.

Each wholesale or B2B project is priced individually based on timber choice, quantities, and engraving requirements — just send me a message to start the conversation.
