Meer dan 35 kunstenaars werken in verschillende media, waaronder schilderen en tekenen, keramiek en houtbewerking, weven en andere vezel- en textielkunsten. Daarnaast schrijven de kunstenaars poëzie en verhalen, en uiten ze zich door middel van acteren en andere podiumkunsten. Hun werk is op grote schaal tentoongesteld en ze zijn bekende en gerespecteerde leden van de artistieke gemeenschap van Maine.
Spindleworks is een non-profit kunstcentrum voor volwassenen met een handicap en een programma van de Independence Association of Brunswick Maine, wiens missie het is om kinderen en volwassenen met een handicap te helpen een volledig en inclusief leven te bereiken in hun gekozen gemeenschap. Kunstenaars in het Spindleworks-programma komen uit omliggende gemeenschappen, waaronder Bath, Topsham, Bowdoinham, Portland, Westbrook, Auburn, Lisbon Falls, Richmond en Freeport. Kunstenaars die het programma bijwonen, ontvangen benodigdheden, studioruimte en begeleiding als dat nodig is. Hun werk wordt tentoongesteld in de Whatnot Gallery and Store bij Spindleworks en in shows zowel lokaal als nationaal. De kunstenaars ontvangen 75% van de verkoopprijs van hun werk, waarbij 25% terugkeert naar het programma om benodigdheden te kopen. De Spindleworks galerie en winkel zijn geopend van maandag tot en met vrijdag van 9:00-4:30 uur. De artiesten zijn ter plaatse van maandag t/m donderdag van 9.00 tot 02.00 uur en vrijdag tot 1.00 uur. Ze genieten van bezoekers en houden ervan om rondleidingen te geven en te praten over hun werk.
