I'm Chief Chuck E Carroll, a retired CAL FIRE Deputy Fire Chief and a brain injury survivor.
My injury came from COVID. I stayed on the front line for years without knowing I had it. When the fog finally had a name, I had to learn how to live a whole new way. I call it my UnNormal life.
Writing poems is how I found my words again. Now I make books, journals and tools for other survivors, and for the family and caregivers who walk beside them. Everything here is written in plain words, by someone who has been there.
Only a brain injury survivor truly understands another survivor. If that's you, welcome. Take a brake from the brain ache. You're not alone in this.
