A Family Tradition Turned into Business
Quando ero bambina giocavo nella stanza del cucito di mia nonna mentre lei lavorava a diversi progetti. Man mano che diventavo un po' più grande, mi dava piccoli compiti da completare e mi insegnava la tecnica lungo la strada. Ho sempre pensato che fosse così divertente creare pezzi, anche quando non avevano uno scopo, e giocare con i tessuti e il filo.
Mia nonna è morta qualche anno fa, ma ho ancora lo stesso fascino per la fiber art di anni fa nel suo seminterrato. Dopo essermi trasferita in Uganda dopo il college, ho incontrato mio marito e ci siamo sposati. Poco dopo il matrimonio ho lasciato il mio lavoro e ho deciso che volevo vendere la mia arte a tempo pieno.
Ognuno dei disegni che vedete da Thistle and Thread sono progettati da me stesso e cuciti da Paul e da me. Lavoriamo mano nella mano per creare ogni pezzo dall'inizio alla fine. Noterai che rilasciamo nuovi design in una collezione e ogni collezione è creata dalle cose che attualmente ci ispirano.
Amiamo essere in grado di creare pezzi unici per la casa e il pensiero che un piccolo pezzo della nostra attività e del nostro cuore si siano fatti strada nella vita di così tante persone è la motivazione per farci andare avanti.

When I was a little girl I would play in my grandmother's sewing room while she worked on different projects. As I became a little bit older she would give me little tasks to complete and would teach me technique along the way. I always thought it was so fun to create pieces, even when they had no purpose, and play with the fabrics and thread.
My grandmother passed away a few years ago, but I still have the same fascination with fiber art as I did years ago in her basement. After moving to Uganda after college, I met my husband and we were married. Soon after marriage I quit my job and decided that I wanted to sell my art full time.
Each of the designs that you see from Thistle and Thread are designed by myself and stitched by Paul and I. We work hand in hand to create each piece from start to finish. You will notice that we release new designs in a collection, and each collection is created from the things currently inspiring us.
We love being able to create unique pieces for the home and the thought that a small piece of our business and heart have made its way into the lives of so many people is the motivation to keep us moving forward.
