I am a doctor, a mother, and a crochet designer. Vera Icona was born during a time when I needed a space to create, reconnect with myself, and express a part of who I am that often had little room in the demands of everyday life.
As a mental health professional, I have learned how important it is to slow down, create, and engage in activities that help us reconnect with our inner world. Crochet became that space for me. With every stitch and every row, I discovered a sense of peace, presence, and creativity that allowed me to transform ideas and emotions into something tangible.
Fashion has always been one of my greatest passions. When I was younger, many of the garments I admired felt out of reach, so I learned to recreate them with my own hands. Over time, I embraced a simple philosophy that still inspires my work today: if you can't buy the garment of your dreams, you can create it.
Every Vera Icona design is born from the intersection of art, emotion, and creative freedom. My patterns and garments are inspired by nature, femininity, imagination, and the emotions that accompany us throughout different stages of life.
Becoming a mother also taught me the value of time and the beauty of creating something meaningful with our hands. Each design is made with care, intention, and love, with the hope that the person who creates or wears it will experience that same sense of pride, calm, and connection.
