The owner of tomopy was born and raised in Nihonmatsu, a historic town in Fukushima, Japan. Growing up surrounded by traditional crafts, she developed a deep appreciation for Japanese artisan culture from an early age.

Many of the artisans we collaborate with are her neighbors and friends, with ties going back four generations or more. Together, we celebrate their craft and carry these traditions forward.

Now based in San Diego, California, tomopy serves as a bridge between local artisans in Nihonmatsu and the world. Through carefully curated products, we hope to share the beauty, skill, and heritage of Japanese craftsmanship with everyone, bringing a touch of tradition into everyday life.
