Ruby zoisite is softer than the ruby in it — the green zoisite sits around 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, so treat this as a special-occasion piece rather than an everyday knockabout ring. Clean with a soft cloth and, if needed, mild soap and lukewarm water; dry thoroughly. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners, knocks against hard surfaces, and prolonged sun.
