A designer coat sells for $180 after 92 days on the rack. At a 50% split, the store keeps $90 - $0.98 for every day that coat occupied space. A $28 dress sells five days after it comes in. Same split, the store keeps $14 - $2.80 per day. The dress made almost three times more per day of rack space, even though it sold for six times less.

Every consignment tracker on the internet counts the same things - consignor name, item, date received, sale price, a running total of what you owe. That is an inventory list. It tells you what came in and what went out. It never tells you whether the day that item spent on your rack was worth it.
