I started my wood working journey as a child with a pocket knife and a stick whittling it to a point as most people probably have. it soon turned to faces as heads and I realized I had a natural knack at carving. At 18, I went to work as a carpenters apprentice for a company building custom homes around the Lake Mary Florida area. After 4 years I felt the call to serve and to the sea where I enlisted into the Navy riding Submarines and got the opportunity to go on some really cool adventures as every young fella should. After getting out in 92 I decided millwork and furniture, being out of the sun and rain proof was the right fit for me where I began my journey into high end custom cabinetry, repairing antiques and building custom antique reproduction furniture. Fast forward 23 years I went out on my own turning legs on Etsy as most woodworkers would rather buy this component rather than take the years of practice typically required to master it. Etsy was a great venue but has since become over saturated with mass production shops using automated equipment to list their items as handmade and undercut the prices of artisans niche who genuinely make actual hand turned works of art. The same as happened to artisans who do hand carvings got pushed out by automated CNC machines that create automated carvings and yet still somehow call them handmade when advertising. So here I am struggling to hang on in an oversaturated site that started as an outlet for artisans to sell their actual handmade works to the public. It became time to offer more than just legs, as legs are only a very small part of what I do. Whole pieces of furniture is where I really shine. I like to stick to old world methods of joinery that I learned while working with antiques and creating antique reproduction style furniture. Not held together by screws and pocket holes but by mortise and tenon joinery which is why mine costs a little more. But to have furniture that actually will last for generations and not just a false claim that it will. it has to be built with actual joinery used by furniture that actually did last for generations. None of which where made by pocket holes and screw joinery if you even want to call it joinery.
As far as my turnings, they are made the old school way with hand and chisel, by eye and not a copy machine or pattern and there really is no comparison between art and something made with an automated copy machine. They will always be worth more both today and more so tomorrow. Every appraiser would agree.

Genuine hand turned legs, crafts and furniture made to order is what I love and live to do. My specialty is pine antique reproductions. I have been making antique reproduction furniture for over 29 years and enjoy helping other people create that special one of a kind piece that can truly be called American hand made start to finish.
Pointing out the small differences in the legs always helped sell my own pieces. Something typically found only in antiques before copy lathes started churning them out by the masses all exactly the same, losing the the personal touch and unique styles of the different turners that made them. Each leg being an authentic work of art as they all vary slightly one from another but with the eye and steady hand of a turner who's made joining and turning his life's work.
I have used soft knotty pine, hard southern yellow pine, oak, cherry, mahogany, walnut, aromatic cedar etc.. extensively in making all types of furniture through the years. From start to finish I put my art , heart and years of experience into each and every piece that comes out of my shop. Signing and dating every piece starting from the 1990's.
