Welcome to Learning Light Labs!
Hi, I’m Emily!
Learning Light Labs grew out of something I’ve seen again and again in my work with children: engagement matters!
With a background in psychology and long term experience as a Registered Behavior Therapist, I spend a lot of time thinking about how to make learning and skill-building something a child actually wants to participate in. I’ve created and adapted games, visual supports, stories, activities, communication tools, and hands-on materials around the children I work with, according to their own unique personalities and interests. I also take into account the skills they’re practicing, and what helps make learning click for them.
That experience shapes everything I create here.
I believe learning can be purposeful and playful. A colorful character, a silly scenario, a favorite theme, an interactive activity, or a story that feels relatable can be more than something that makes a resource cute—it can be what invites a learner in and gives them another opportunity to practice something meaningful.
My resources are created with that balance in mind: engagement, meaning, and growth. You’ll find materials supporting big feelings and emotional regulation, communication and language, social skills, learning and thinking, everyday routines and life skills, and many of the little abilities children practice as they learn to navigate their world.
I also love storytelling and creating children’s books that bring important ideas to life in ways that feel warm, playful, and approachable. Whether I’m creating a story, a game, a set of cards, or an interactive learning activity, the goal is the same: make the experience engaging enough to invite participation and meaningful enough to support growth beyond the activity itself.
Because the skills practiced in small, everyday moments can become the skills children carry with them into the life ahead.
Engagement. Meaningful Learning. Lasting Growth.
That’s what Learning Light Labs is all about.
