I fell in love with viking knit weaving in 2011. I was fascinated how light the chain was and comfortable to wear. First creating statement jewelry for myself. I then started branching out giving gifts to friends and family and always trying to come up with new designs. Then it seems it quickly turned into a business with my collection of Viking Knit jewelry in a few boutiques around the USA. I started With Etsy in 2013 with the idea of directly from me I could share with you the jewelry collection at WHOLESALE prices.
Although, I've noticed over the last couple years my designs being copied, I'm always trying to create new designs. Many ideas and applying them using viking Knit some successful and some still a work in progress :) My wire wrapped gemstones are always one of a kind. I'm also very picking on the quality and each piece of jewelry needs to be perfect before I offer it.

Viking knitting, one of the oldest known forms of weaving chain, is a technique that preceded traditional knitting by centuries. Many of these chains were found buried in tombs of some of the most famous Vikings.
It is so lightweight it feels like lace !!
Viking knitting” is not actually knitting in the way you might think (i.e. with two needles), but is actually a type of weaving. Chains are made from long pieces of wire (8'-12') that are worked by hand into interconnecting loops. For those who knit with yarn, the connected loops look like twisted knitting (knit through back loop). Necklaces may contain up to 40' of wire, so several shorter pieces... must be joined together during construction of the chain. This is done without the use of solder because the wire is spliced together in a way that is nearly impossible to detect in the finished piece.
A 18" chain to weave takes anywhere from 3 1/2 hours to 5 hours, depending on how many colors of wire are used and how dence I want the chain to be.
What I love about this type of chain/jewelry is that you can wear the same necklace casual with jeans an a t-shirt , professional during the week and with a beautiful evening dress for a elegant event. VERSATILE and always in style !
