I am an author, poet, seamstress, costumer, quilter, photographer, jeweler, cook, reader, mom, wife….
I like playing with my beads and stones and seeing what works, I love playing with light and shadow and texture. I find pieces at yard sales, junk stores, etc. and bring them back to life. I play with fabric for quilts and costumes.
I’m currently working on documenting my love of the people and land of Eastern Kentucky.
I got my first Nikon when I was three, a cast off from one of my dad’s crew members. It was the seventies and my dad was Chief of Photography at Disney World. My first professional photo came about during the 1976 Bicentennial Parade at Disney. I was in the press area, sitting on a trash can. My dad leaned away from his camera to answer a radio call and the first fireworks went off. I took the shot that was printed. He still laughs at that to this day.
There is something about looking at the world through the view finder. It is intimate and exciting. I love light and shadow, texture and patterns. I love capturing bits and bobs that people otherwise wouldn’t see.
