When I'm working on a bracelet or a new earring design time just stops, or stops mattering anyway. Modern life really wears on our brains. I like to make jewelry because the colors and creativity flow right through the pressures, pushing all that analytical and organizational effort we use in our jobs and daily lives off to the side. That's why I named my shop Intealect, to give the image of my favorite color flowing through all the stress to release my creativity and bring me joy.
I'm inspired by my daughter who has her own etsy shop, TangledCharm. She makes beautiful chainmaille and beadwoven jewelry. Without her encouragement I wouldn't have had the guts to buy my first silver wire and actual amethyst and garnet beads and make the kind of jewelry I really wanted to make. She's awesome.
I'm inspired by my son who makes origami structures, wallets out of duct tape, model rockets and animals out of balloons. He also makes lemonade out of life's lemons and always knows how to make me smile.
Finally, I'm inspired by my husband who bought a saw and made a kitchen table because I asked him to. It's gorgeous and just what I pictured it would be. He made a cat-sized set of stairs so our cat can reach the top of the bookcase, also because I asked him to. I think he likes me...I know I'm lucky to have him, and my wonderful children, in my colorful, crafty life.
I recently opened another shop called Intealectual Destash. My new shop has gems and metal components from my stash that I am selling to make room for my new finds. Check it out! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Intealectualdestash
