Hi There! Thank you so much for stopping by Two Sparrows Handmade! I'm so happy to have this opportunity to share my passions with you in this wonderful Etsy community! This shop was born out of a lifetime of creating and years of prayer. I grew up in a very creative home where there were always ample supplies and opportunity to make things. We lived in the Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts, one town over from Norman Rockwell, and there was much to inspire us in just the beauty that surrounded us. Despite being a country girl at heart I was very drawn to NYC and was blessed to attend The School of Visual Arts where I received my BFA in Illustration. I spent several years living in Manhattan illustrating for magazines, book covers, and children's books. I met my wonderful husband on a sunny day in Prospect Park in Brooklyn at a church picnic, and after marrying we settled in New Jersey moving 3 times and raising 3 awesome children-my greatest inspiration!
Illustration went on hold but my desire for making things never did. I'm so thankful for my husband putting up with all my messes and artistic pursuits! We now live in Northern NJ, once again in the beautiful mountains, where my husband is a pastor and our children are mostly grown. I love to give homemade gifts and after much encouragement from friends and no more room in our house for all these things, I began to pray that the Lord would show me the work of my hands. After much prayer Two Sparrows was born! The name of this shop comes from one of my favorite scripture verses found in Matthew 10:29-31- " Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Fathers will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows."
