1913 Vintage Sewing Pattern 1910s Ladies Bust Supporter Brassiere Multisize Depew #2039 Paper Version

This is a full-sized paper sewing pattern for an amazing 1910s full-coverage bust supporter - brassière in two versions. The bra may be with either a pleated front (illustrated left) or a plain front. The closure is a simple lap at the center front that may be finished with hooks and eyes. The pattern has markings for adding optional boning at seams and certain places for more support. The straps are cut from ribbon and this supporter may be made with insertion or lace trim, ribbon bows, and even beading.

The original pattern comes from 1913 before these were called brassières. This style persisted well into the 1920s.

SIZING INFO:
The pattern comes with several sizes included from a 32"- 50" Bust.
Patterns from this era didn't have cup measurements. Instead, they used the full over-bust measurement (rather than your under-bust as in most modern bras).

Difficulty level: ADVANCED. We do not recommend this pattern for beginners. if you are at an ambitious intermediate skill level, this is a great pattern to challenge and advance your skills.

For an ornamental version of this pattern, sew it in delicate lace, silk, or embroidered fabric. For more support, stitch boning where marked on the pattern and chose a fabric like coutil or medium-weight satin.
