Welcome to my shop. I am semi retired from too many years in finance. Woodworking has always been part of my life back to the days where I played and made odds and ends in my grandfather’s woodshop. Some years ago my wife bought me a lathe because she thought that I should have one to add to my toys in my workroom. My first reaction was “I don’t need any stinking lathe” because I already had too much equipment and hadn’t been interested in woodturning. That has all changed. I don’t even pick up a hammer or a planer anymore. I am addicted to woodturning. I love taking a raw, non descript hunk of wood and design it and turn it into something useful or beautiful. Each piece of wood has its’ own character, feel and smell. Living in Colorado at 7,600 ft I don’t have local access to a wide variety of woods other than pine and aspen but I strive to find reclaimed or discarded wood wherever possible. I also create segmented pieces due to the variety of flat stock available. I like lines and designs that are simple, traditional and clean. All of my turnings are one of a kind. When the turning process begins you may find that you have natural defects show up such as knots, bug holes or other things that give the piece its’ own personality. If there is something you see that you like but want to have customized in some way I would be more than happy to talk with you about it. I am a member of the American Association of Woodturners.
