Why is this shop called Betty-Rose Tutorials?
Betty was my lovely mum and Rose was hers. When my mum was a small child, her mother would sit her on her knee while saying "Betty Rose sat on a pin" and as soon as she said "pin" she would whisk my mum into the air saying "Betty rose!" to much-delighted giggling!
This has become a tradition in our family, both myself and my 3 older brothers had our turns with "Betty-Rose sat on a pin" and we have all played it with our own children.
My mum was a very talented lady. She could knit and sew the most amazing garments. She could make just about anything. She was good with anything craft-related.
I inherited her love of craft - particularly beading. I lost my mum in 2015 and I named this Etsy shop in her honor, including both hers and my grandmother's name.
Each pattern bears the chant of Betty-Rose on every page and has a 'dad joke' about beading or craft at the end. The sort of groaners that my dad would make at our expense!
I wish my mum could have seen all of this, I think about her all the time and I believe that a little piece of her goes into every design I make.
