Moisture could compromise strength. Silk loses 70% of strength when wet. Never wear pearls in the shower, steam room or while exercising. If silk becomes wet, lay on a dry towel until moisture evaporates.

Cosmetics: jewelry doesn’t like them. Avoid surface damage by putting jewelry on last. Be sure jewelry is not exposed while using spray cosmetics, perfumes and lotions.

Avoid swimming in the pool or ocean as either chlorine or sea salt can cause corrosion or color change.

Avoid sleeping in jewelry that can mutate, or worse cause injury to the wearer.

Treat your jewelry with care, it will add enjoyment to your life for a long time.

To clean use a soft cloth that is dampened followed by a dry soft cloth. Microfiber cloths are lint free, high quality and fluffy.

For oxidized metals try a Sunshine polishing cloth which has the oxidation removal cream built in and also includes a polishing cloth.

Jewelry sometimes needs a little help in removing lotions or oils that build up in small places. Use warm water, a mild soap, and a small brush to gently clean. Rinse and dry with soft cloth.

For storage, keep jewelry in the original box or pouch it comes with. Another idea is a small zip lock baggie. Benefits are: a) slows down oxidation or debris buildup, b) keeps jewelry safe from overhandling or tangling, c) protects stones from falling off or breaking.
