Mon travail est l'aboutissement d'années de croquis et d'idées donnant vie à des créatures et des monstres. Ces créatures fantaisistes, parfois étranges, sont destinées à stimuler l'imagination et à apporter un peu de joie au monde. Certains sont des personnages que je dessine depuis des décennies. D'autres me viennent en observant ma fille jouer avec un nouveau jouet ou en voyant un animal se comporter de façon espiègle dans la nature. Je cherche à retrouver l'émerveillement et la curiosité de mon enfance. Tous les monstres n'ont pas besoin d'être effrayants. J'essaie de créer des monstres qui font sourire. Si ces Petites Atrocités peuvent offrir une distraction ou un moment de légèreté face aux atrocités bien réelles et horribles du monde, alors je contribue à rendre ce monde meilleur.
My work is the culmination of years’ worth of sketches and ideas of creatures and monsters coming to life. These whimsical and at times peculiar creatures are intended to inspire imagination and bring a little happiness to the world. Some of them are characters I have been drawing for decades. Others come from watching my daughter play with a new toy or seeing an animal act silly in nature. I am attempting to tap back into a child-like wonder and curiosity I had growing up. Not all monsters have to be scary. I try to make monsters that make people smile. If these Little Atrocities can provide momentary distraction or levity from all of the real and horrifying atrocities in the world, then I am doing my part to make this world a better place.
