L’artisanat est dans mon sang
Crafting is in my blood
Ayant grandi dans les collines de l’est du Kentucky, j’ai eu la chance d’avoir une famille qui connaissait l’artisanat sauvage et les propriétés curatives des herbes et ils m’ont transmis cela. Ma famille était aussi des artisans car la plupart des montagnards apprennent de leurs parents et le transmettent à leurs enfants. J’ai appris à coudre (à la main et à la machine), à coudre, à tisser, à tricoter et à crocheter auprès de ma grand-mère, de ma mère et de mes tantes. J’ai appris le travail du bois et la poterie au lycée. J’avais aussi une capacité naturelle pour le dessin et la peinture et mes parents m’ont nourri dans cet aspect de mes efforts artistiques.

Growing up in the hills of eastern Kentucky I was blessed with a family that had knowledge of wildcrafting and the healing properties of herbs and they passed this onto me. My family were also handicrafters as most mountain people learn from their parents and pass it down to their children. I learned how to sew (both by hand and machine), quilt, weave, knit, and crochet from my grandmother, mother and aunts. Woodworking and pottery I learned while in highschool. I also had a natural ability for drawing and painting and my parents nurtured me in that aspect of my artistic endeavors.
