Soy Ian David Marsden, ilustrador, dibujante y diseñador con un compromiso de toda la vida con el arte dibujado a mano, la narración visual y las imágenes con carácter.
Durante los últimos veinte años, he vivido y trabajado en la región del Pic Saint-Loup, justo al norte de Montpellier, en Hérault, Occitania. Desde aquí, creo obras de arte originales, influenciadas por la observación, la atmósfera, el ingenio y una sensibilidad marcadamente europea.
Modicum Editions es donde publico mis grabados: una colección de ilustraciones originales que abarca desde reinterpretaciones de carteles de viajes inspirados en la Riviera y escenas mediterráneas hasta obras satíricas, piezas de estilo editorial e imágenes basadas en el humor, el lugar y la observación social. Mis influencias incluyen la ilustración clásica, los carteles de mediados de siglo, las tradiciones gráficas del viejo mundo y la larga historia del dibujo satírico; sin embargo, cada pieza tiene un tono contemporáneo y es completamente mía.
Creo obras para quienes buscan arte con personalidad. Algunas piezas son luminosas, elegantes y soleadas, inspiradas en el sur de Francia, Montpellier, la cultura de los cafés y la vida costera. Otras son más agudas y satíricas, recurriendo al lenguaje de las caricaturas editoriales y el comentario visual. En todas ellas, busco imágenes distintivas, cuidadosamente compuestas y que resulten gratificantes de vivir con ellas a lo largo del tiempo.
El nombre Modicum refleja algo modesto pero esencial: una pequeña medida que marca la diferencia. Para mí, eso significa un toque de ingenio, moderación, curiosidad, humildad y humanidad. Estos valores moldean tanto la obra en sí como mi forma de abordarla.
Cada impresión de la tienda presenta obras de arte originales creadas por mí, ya sea dibujadas a mano o pintadas digitalmente, y producidas profesionalmente con un alto estándar. No se trata de pósteres decorativos genéricos, sino de obras de autor creadas para coleccionistas y amantes de la decoración que aprecian las imágenes elaboradas, el color refinado y una fuerte presencia visual.
Todas las impresiones se producen profesionalmente con materiales de alta calidad, priorizando la durabilidad del color, la claridad y el acabado. Están diseñadas para aportar carácter, ambiente y un disfrute duradero a los espacios donde se exhiben.

I’m Ian David Marsden — an illustrator, cartoonist, and designer with a lifelong commitment to hand-drawn art, visual storytelling, and images with character.
For the past twenty years, I have lived and worked in the Pic Saint-Loup region, just north of Montpellier in the Hérault, Occitanie. From here, I create original artworks shaped by observation, atmosphere, wit, and a distinctly European sensibility.
Modicum Editions is where I publish my prints: a collection of original illustrations that range from Riviera-inspired travel-poster reinterpretations and Mediterranean scenes to satirical works, editorial-style pieces, and images rooted in humour, place, and social observation. My influences include classic illustration, mid-century posters, old-world graphic traditions, and the long history of satirical drawing — but every piece is contemporary in tone and entirely my own.
I make work for people who want art with personality. Some pieces are luminous, elegant, and sun-drenched, inspired by the South of France, Montpellier, café culture, and coastal life. Others are sharper and more satirical, drawing on the language of editorial cartoons and visual commentary. Across all of them, I aim for images that are distinctive, carefully composed, and rewarding to live with over time.
The name Modicum reflects something modest but essential — a small measure that makes all the difference. For me, that means a modicum of wit, restraint, curiosity, humility, and humanity. Those values shape both the work itself and the way I approach making it.
Every print in the shop features original artwork created by me, either hand-drawn or digitally painted, and professionally produced to a high standard. These are not generic decorative posters, but authored works made for collectors and interiors that appreciate thoughtful imagery, refined colour, and strong visual presence.
All prints are professionally produced using high-quality materials, with a focus on lasting colour, clarity, and finish. They are made to bring character, atmosphere, and lasting pleasure to the spaces in which they hang.
