I am a teacher with a dream to open a quilting store when I retire.
Mi historia con el acolchado comenzó en los dulces veranos que pasé con mi abuela cuando era niña en un pueblo rural de Arkansas. Mi abuela era una entusiasta del acolchado que hacía piezas de acolchado a máquina y las acolchaba a mano sobre un bastidor de madera. Ella me inculcó un amor por las manualidades que perdura hasta el día de hoy.
Recuerdo vívidamente sus manos mientras cosía los materiales en su máquina. Sin embargo, curiosamente no puedo recordar el material ni ninguna colcha terminada... solo sus manos. Me gustaría poder decirle cuánto la extraño y esos momentos que crecí con ella. También hacía gorros de crochet como los que tengo en mi tienda. Cada vez que hago un gorro o una colcha, pienso en ella.
Cuando me retire de la docencia, sueño con abrir una tienda de acolchados en el mismo pueblito en el que ella me enseñó. ¡Cada compra que haces en mi tienda online, ya sea en Etsy o en mi sitio web, me acerca un paso más a mi sueño!
My quilting story began in the sweet summers spent with my grandmother growing up in a rural town in Arkansas. My grandmother was an avid quilter who pieced quilts on a machine and hand quilted them on a wooden frame. She instilled a love a crafting in me that lives on today.
I can remember her hands vividly as she sewed the materials together on her machine. Oddly though, I cannot remember the material or any finished quilt...just her hands. I wish I could tell her how much I miss her and those moments growing up with her. She also made crochet can hats like that ones I have in my shop. Every time I make a hat or a quilt, I think of her.
When I retire from teaching, I dream of opening a quilting store in the same small town that she taught me in. Every purchase that you make from my online store, either in Etsy or my website, brings me one step closer to my dream!
